Suzhou Tourism Bureau is the government body directly in charge of the tourism industry development in Suzhou. It has ten major departments: General Administration Office; Discipline Inspection Group; Information Center; Research Office; Human Resource Development and Education Division; Policy Development Division; Industry Management Division; Marketing and Promotion Division; Quality Supervision Division; and Training Center. Its major responsibilities are as follows:

1. Promote and implement tourism development guidelines and policies issued by the Central Government and Provincial Government;

2. Draft the local regulations related to the tourism industry, and carry out these regulations.
3. Develop middle- and long-term tourism industry development strategies for Suzhou.
4. Be responsible for the development of domestic and international tourism in Suzhou.
5. Organize and carry out domestic and international marketing strategies and promotional activities.
6. Monitor the tourism industry service quality and ensure the legal rights of both tourists and tour operators.
7. Examine and evaluate hotels, travel agencies, and tourist attractions to ensure security.
8. Be responsible for the training and evaluation of tourism industry employees.
9. Create the appropriate environment for the development of tourism and improve tourism management systems in Suzhou.
